A major Russian offensive will begin in the coming months. We are talking about the end of May or June. President Volodymyr Zelensky stated this in an interview with the American television CBS News.
„Although the defense forces have been able to contain the Russians, they are not prepared to defend against another major Russian offensive without the help of our partners,” Zelensky warned, calling on the US and Western allies of Kiev to provide military support now.
Zelensky said that the most necessary are American systems “Patriot“ and more artillery. While he is grateful for the billions of dollars in US support his country has already received, he said the nature of the funding the US government is providing to help Ukraine needs to be put into perspective.
„Tens of billions remain in the US. Let's be honest, the money that is given by Congress, by the administration, in most cases 80% of that money – well, at least more than 75% – remain in the US. These munitions come to us, but the production takes place there and the money stays in the USA, the taxes stay in the USA," Zelensky pointed out.
The Ukrainian president also warned that “the Russian war could come to Europe, to the USA”. “For him (Putin), we are a satellite of the Russian Federation. "At the moment it's us, then it will be Kazakhstan, then the Baltic states, then Poland, then Germany," Zelensky said.
Zelensky said Putin is determined to restore the former Soviet Union to its imperial glory - and its geographic borders. "Even tomorrow, missiles can fly to any country," the Ukrainian leader told CBS News. “This aggression and Putin's army can reach Europe and then the citizens of the United States, the soldiers of the United States, will have to defend Europe because they are members of NATO.
