Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived on a two-day state visit to Uzbekistan today, TASS reported, quoted by BTA.
He was met at the airport of the capital Tashkent by his colleague Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
After landing, Putin visited the "New Uzbekistan" park, where he laid a wreath at the Independence Monument. After that, the leaders of Russia and Uzbekistan went to an informal meeting, Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov announced to media representatives.
The two have planned to discuss the current stage and the future development of bilateral relations, with the main agenda of the talks being for tomorrow. Putin and Mirziyoyev will also participate in the first meeting of the Council of Regions of Russia and Uzbekistan. In addition, several bilateral agreements will be signed during the talks.
This is the third foreign visit since Putin took office as president of Russia for a fifth term on May 7 this year, following visits to China and Belarus.
