Crews of fighter jets “Tornado“ of the German combat aviation have started the active phase of the international exercises “Pacific Skies 24“ in North America. The planes practiced precision bombing at low altitudes, the Air Force of the Bundesrepublic announced last night on social networks, quoted by DPA, writes BTA.
A plane descended to a height of 30 meters to approach the intended target undetected, rising only to strike. The military used GBU-54 laser-guided precision bombs.
Within “Pacific Skies 24“ the German Air Force deployed aircraft far beyond Europe. More than 30 fighter jets, helicopters, transport aircraft and air-to-air refueling aircraft are participating until mid-August in the incoming “Pacific Skies 24” five individual exercises: “Arctic defender“ in Alaska, “Japanese Skies” in Japan, “Tar Black“ in Australia, “Tarang Shakti – first phase“ in India and RIMPAC off Hawaii.
The German Air Force called what was happening “the largest and most challenging deployment of forces to date”.
The Air Force of France and Spain, as well as the host country the United States, also participate in the series of NATO-standard exercises.
