Moderate Iranian presidential candidate, cardiac surgeon Massoud Pezeshkian leads in second round in the presidential elections in Iran, reported Reuters, quoted by BTA, citing data from the Iranian Interior Ministry.

With 2.54 million ballots counted, Pezeshkian received 1.26 million, while his opponent, hardliner Said Jalili, received 1.24 million votes.

According to preliminary data, voter turnout was 49.18%, which means that more than 30 million out of a total of 61 million voters voted, IRNA reported, referring to the representative of the Executive Committee for organizing the presidential vote, Alireza Salimi.< /p>
