His lawyers have asked to drop the case against him for mishandling classified documents

Donald Trump distances himself from "Project 2025" prepared by an American conservative think tank and aiming for large-scale changes in the federal government of the USA, reported the world agencies quoted by BTA.

However, long-time allies and former employees of the Trump administration also participated in the preparation of the project, the Associated Press adds.

"I know nothing about Project 2025", Trump wrote on his social network "Truth Social". "I have no idea who is behind it. I don't agree with some of the things these people are saying,'' he added, and stated that some of the things in the Project are completely ridiculous and ridiculous.

The 922-page plan calls for a dramatic expansion of the president's powers and the firing of up to 50,000 government employees to replace them with Trump loyalists.

Trump outlined his own plans to overhaul the government if he wins a second term, including launching the largest operation to deport illegal immigrants in US history and imposing tariffs on potentially all imports. His campaign previously warned his outside allies not to hire themselves to speak on his behalf.

The president of the "Heritage" Kevin Roberts, behind "Project 2025" said on a podcast that Republicans are "in the process of getting this country back". "We are in the midst of a second American revolution that will be bloodless if the left allows it," said Roberts.

These comments were widely circulated on the Internet. Biden's campaign released a statement saying Trump and his allies "dream of a violent revolution that will destroy the very idea of America".

Some of the people involved in "Project 2025" are former senior Trump administration officials. The head of the project, for example, is Paul Dance, who under Trump held the position of head of the "Personnel Management" department. John McEntee, former director of the White House Office of the President in the Trump administration, is a senior adviser on the project.

Trump's comments on "Project 2025" come ahead of next week's GOP caucuses, where it will begin drafting its party platform.

Speaker of "Project 2025" said he is not tied to a particular candidate or campaign. "We are a coalition of more than 110 conservative groups making policy and staff recommendations for the next conservative president," the statement said. "But in the end, it's up to this president, who we think will be President Trump, to decide which recommendations to implement," he adds.

The Democratic National Committee said that "Project 2025" and the Trump campaign are part of the same operation. A spokesman for the Biden campaign said that members of the "Project 2025" also lead the political platform of the Republicans.

Meanwhile, Trump's lawyers requested the termination of the case against him for wrongful handling of confidential documents, reported France Presse, quoted by BTA.

Trump, who is running for a second term in the White House, was accused of having classified documents discovered after he left the presidency. He is accused of compromising national security by storing the documents at his private residence in Mar a Lago, Florida. Among these documents were military plans or information about nuclear weapons. Trump should have turned them over to the National Archives, as required by law.

Trump's lawyers yesterday asked the judge in the case, Eileen Cannon, to delay the proceedings to allow them to study how the recent Supreme Court decision would affect this case.

In an unprecedented ruling, the Supreme Court on Monday ruled that a US president is at least entitled to a presumption of immunity for his official actions under criminal law.

Trump keeps saying he has presidential immunity in the four cases filed against him. In May, he was found guilty of 34 counts of falsifying accounting records to conceal a $130,000 payment to porn star Stormy Daniels at the end of his 2016 presidential campaign. Following the Supreme Court's ruling, Trump's lawyers wrote to the judge in the case to ask for the sentence to be overturned. It was supposed to be delivered on July 11, but has now been postponed to mid-September

The trial over the mishandling of classified documents was also delayed by Judge Eileen Cannon, who was appointed to the post by Trump himself and has drawn criticism for favoring him.

There are two other cases against Trump, one federal and one in Georgia, for trying to overturn the results of the 2020 election. Those cases are complicated by the Supreme Court decision.
