The heat in Italy reaches 40 degrees Celsius, the sea water is unusually warm and the surface of the Orbetello lagoon – the Tuscany region was filled with tons of dead fish, BNR reported.
The picture near Orbetello is eerie, where tons of fish in the lagoon – sea bass, bream, mullet and even eels die due to lack of oxygen.
The mayor of Orbetello, Andrea Casamenti, believes that structural interventions are necessary, but cost millions, appealing to the government for assistance.
Civil defense organized the collection and removal of the dead fish.
In the Tuscany region and the central part of the country, temperatures over the next 24 hours will remain unusually high with a peak of 40 degrees.
They will be a few degrees lower in the northern and southern half of the Apennine peninsula.
The sea water is warmest off the coast of the island of Sicily – almost 30 degrees.
It is also difficult to stay on the beaches. The recommendation is to stay at home if possible.
