Thirteen people were injured when a Ukrainian missile hit a residential building in the Russian city of Kursk last night, the acting the position of governor of the region of the same name, Alexei Smirnov, quoted by TASS, Reuters and BTA.
He specified that two of the victims are in serious condition.
All the injured have been hospitalized, added the mayor of Kursk, Igor Kutsak.
Earlier, Smirnov reported that a downed Ukrainian missile fell on a residential building in Kursk, causing a fire.
Cars were also damaged, Kutsak said.
The fire has already been extinguished, the Russian Ministry of Emergencies announced.
Russian air defense is working in the sky above Kursk, reported a TASS correspondent who heard four explosions.
Earlier, 10 explosions were reported in the city.
This week, the Ukrainian armed forces launched a surprise offensive in the Kursk region. The situation in the Russian border region remains unclear.
Governor Smirnov ordered to speed up the voluntary evacuation of the population from the border Belovsky district, in the southwestern part of the Kursk region.
