Poland: Theories that we helped sabotage Nord Stream are completely baseless insinuations - 1

Suggestions that the Ukrainian authorities, supported by Poland, are behind the planning and execution of a sabotage attack on the "Nord Stream" in 2022 are groundless, an aide to the Polish president said today, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

Last week, the former head of German intelligence, August Hanning, told Welt that he believed there was an agreement between the presidents of Poland and Ukraine to carry out the attack.

"These are completely baseless insinuations," said Meško Pavlak, head of the Bureau of International Policy in the office of President Andrzej Duda, in response to a question about the accusations announced by the TV channel "Polsat" (Polsat), the PAP agency reported.

Pavlak pointed out that Hanning was a civil servant at the time Gerhard Schröder was German chancellor and the pillars of "Nord Stream 1" began to emerge, and "as head of intelligence he certainly played a shameful and significant role in the investment".

German media reported this week that prosecutors in the Federal Republic have identified a Ukrainian diving instructor as the prime suspect in the sabotage of the "Nord Stream" and issued a warrant for his arrest in Poland.

Warsaw received the court order, but the suspect left the country because Germany did not include his name in the wanted persons database, Polish prosecutors told Reuters.

"To all initiators and patrons of "North Stream" 1 and 2. The only thing you have to do today is apologize and shut up," Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk wrote yesterday in "X".

Tusk did not directly respond to accusations of Polish involvement.

On Thursday, the American "Wall Street Journal" reported that private entrepreneurs financed the sabotage of "Nord Stream" and the action was carried out under the supervision of a high-ranking Ukrainian general. Kiev denies having any involvement in blowing up the facility.
