Ukraine will restore power to some customers today due to a shortfall in electricity production following Russian attacks on the power system and given the increased consumption due to the hot summer. This was announced by the Ukrainian network operator and the Ministry of Energy, quoted by Reuters, BTA reported.
Russian missile and drone attacks on Ukraine's energy sector have intensified since the spring, causing power outages in many regions and forcing Kiev to begin large-scale imports of electricity from the EU. The restrictions will be in effect from 17:00 to 21:00 local time, informs the energy operator "Ukrenergo".
Ukraine significantly reduced electricity supplies in July due to repairs at several key nuclear power plants and record high temperatures. In August, there were almost no restrictions after the reactors were restarted and temperatures dropped. According to Ukrainian authorities, the country has lost almost half of its energy production capacity due to the attacks.
