Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro announced that this year's Christmas holidays in the country begin on October 1, NOVA reported.
This happened just hours after the Attorney General ordered the arrest of opposition presidential candidate Edmundo Gonzalez on terrorism charges.
Maduro appeared on television to announce a change in the calendar.
„This year, in your honor and as a sign of gratitude, I will be announcing the move of Christmas to October 1st. Christmas will start on October 1st for everyone. Christmas has arrived, with peace, happiness and security”, Maduro declared.
