A Russian missile hit a cargo ship with wheat in Cherno today sea heading for Egypt, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced in the "Telegram" application, BTA reports.

According to his information, the attack on the ship took place immediately after it left Ukrainian territorial waters. According to preliminary data, there were no casualties.

"Ukraine is one of the countries in the world with the greatest contribution to food security. The internal stability and life of dozens of countries in different parts of the world depends on the normal and smooth functioning of our export food corridor," said the Ukrainian president.

Volodymyr Zelensky added that the Ukrainian supply of food to countries in Africa and the Middle East region is critical.

"We will continue to do everything we can to protect our ports, our Black Sea and the supply of food to the world market. This is a real priority for Ukraine - the protection of life, and this should be a priority for every country," Zelensky stated.

We are waiting for the reaction of the world, and wheat and food security should never be a target for missiles, the Ukrainian president also shared.

According to the official census in 2001, the Bulgarian community in Odesa region numbered 150,000 people. About 50-60 thousand Bulgarians live in the city of Odessa. The largest compact Bulgarian population is concentrated in Bolgrad, Izmail and Belgorod-Dniester regions.
