At least 18 people were killed in a bomb attack in the Somali capital Mogadishu, the police announced yesterday, DPA reported , quoted by BTA.
Fighters from the Islamist terrorist group al-Shabaab detonated two explosive devices in the Kahda district, police officer Mohammed Dahir told DPA.
At least 10 more people were injured. The bombs were hidden on a street with a popular view, Dahir said. During the attack, a group of young people were taking pictures there.
Al-Shabaab controls parts of the impoverished Horn of Africa country but has been pushed out of the capital in recent years. However, attacks on government facilities, hotels and restaurants in Mogadishu have increased again in recent months.
Most recently, on August 21, 10 people were killed in a car bomb explosion in Mogadishu, and 11 people died in a terrorist attack on a restaurant in the capital in the middle of last month.
A few days earlier, terrorists attacked a hotel on the beach and killed 20 people.
