Lamy indicated that London is continuing consultations with Washington and other Western allies on whether to give Kiev the green light to use British-supplied Storm Shadow missiles. for attacks against Russian military airfields and other objects from which attacks against Ukraine are launched.
Over the past few weeks, there have been intense talks between the UK and the US on this topic in Kiev and Washington, but no decision has yet been made.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has repeatedly urged Western leaders to allow his military to use weapons supplied by allied forces to strike Russian territory.
The Russian head of state warned that such a move "will mean that NATO countries, the US and the EU are at war with Russia".
According to Lamy, however, there is a small probability of such a collision. "Putin said: don't send tanks. We sent them. Putin said: don't send any missiles. We sent them. "Every few months, Putin threatens to use nuclear weapons," Lammy told Sky News. The British foreign minister stressed that now the Russian president must "end his aggression and leave Ukraine".
Lamy added that Putin "bluffs a lot". "We cannot be diverted from the course by an imperialist fascist" who "want to invade countries indiscriminately", the head of British diplomacy also said.
In addition, he announced on the BBC that talks between Prime Minister Keir Starmer, US President Joe Biden and Zelensky will continue later this month at UN headquarters in New York.
