Interest in Turkey is growing, Ex-Turkish Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek said on the platform after talks with business representatives during a one-day visit to Germany, reports in. " Hurriet Daily News".

He said he had productive meetings with managers of major companies and investors in Germany.

"We are intensifying our efforts to increase foreign direct investment, which is our main goal," the minister pointed out.

Simsek traveled to the German state of Bavaria to participate in a meeting organized by the Stern Stewart Institute, a leading think tank, ministry sources said.

CEOs and CFOs of over 50 of Germany's largest companies participated in the event, which began on September 19.

On the second day of the meeting, Simsek participated in a special session on Turkey, which was attended by managers of companies that already have investments in Turkey or are planning to.

According to the central bank's latest balance of payments data, foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows to Turkey totaled $670 million in July.

From January to July, Turkey attracted FDI totaling $2.66 billion, up from $2.75 billion in the same period last year.

In July, Germany had the largest share of FDI capital inflows to Turkey at 39 percent, followed by the Netherlands at 24 percent and the United States at 12 percent, according to a report by the Association of International Investors (YASED).

Since 2002, cumulative FDI inflows to Turkey have exceeded $269 billion.
