Iran's armed forces said they will attack the "bases and interests" of Israel's supporters in the region if they intervened directly against Tehran, and added that any Israeli response to the missile attack would cause "enormous destruction" of Israeli infrastructure, reported Reuters, quoted by BTA.
The Iranian missile attack on Israel was intended to kill thousands of Israeli civilians, an Israeli military spokesman told AFP, describing it as unprecedented.
"The intent to kill civilians is unprecedented. Iran's aim was to kill thousands of civilians" by firing about 180 rockets at Israel, the spokesman said.
The Israeli military said its air defense system had intercepted a large number of Iranian missiles.
The military-space forces of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, however, said that the "target of the dozens of ballistic missiles they sent" were "important objects of the security forces and the military in the occupied territories. They specified that they fired at three air force bases around Tel Aviv and claimed that "90% of the missiles fired successfully hit their target.
The Revolutionary Guards also reported using Fatah hypersonic missiles for the first time, according to Reuters.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi said on the "X" platform that Iran exercised its right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
Iran has exercised its right of self-defense against Israel and its action is over unless "the Israeli regime decides to provoke further retaliation,", Arakchi announced in his post.
The minister noted that Iran took action against Israel after showing great restraint to enable a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
"Our action is over, unless the Israeli regime decides to provoke further retaliation. In this case, our response will be firmer and more powerful," Arakci added.
Earlier, the Iranian Foreign Ministry called on the UN Security Council to take "meaningful action" to prevent threats to regional peace and security.
Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian welcomed the "decisive response against aggression" of Israel after the Iranian missile attack on Tel Aviv, reported France Press, quoted by BTA.
"In accordance with legitimate rights and with the aim of (establishing) peace and security in Iran and the region, a decisive response was given to the aggression of the Zionist regime," Pezeshkian said on the social network "X", calling for " not to enter into conflict with Iran".
Iranian state television broadcast footage from the cities of Arak, Qom and the capital Tehran where people were celebrating after the Iranian missile attack on Israel. Some of them shouted "Allah is great!", "Death to America"; and "Death to Israel".
The Palestinian movement "Hamas" also welcomed the Iranian strikes in retaliation for the killings of its leader Ismail Haniya, the leader of the Lebanese Shiite movement “Hezbollah” Hassan Nasrallah, as well as that of Brigadier General Abbas Nilforoushan of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Iran's missile attack against Israel had failed and promised retaliatory actions, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
"Iran made a big mistake tonight and will pay for it," Netanyahu said in a video message after Iran fired 180 missiles at Israel last night, most of which the Israeli military said were intercepted by Israel's anti-missile shield .
"The Iranian regime does not understand our determination to defend ourselves and to hold our enemies to account," the prime minister said, quoted by France Presse.
"Nasrallah (did not understand her), obviously there are people in Tehran who do not understand. They will understand”, Netanyahu threatened and added: "We will stick to our principle: whoever attacks us will be attacked by us".
"Iran has not learned its lesson", Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant wrote in turn on the social network "X" and also warned: "Whoever attacks the State of Israel pays a high price".
