Belarus will do everything for peaceful coexistence with Ukraine. This is what Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said today during a meeting with residents of the Belarusian city of Parokhonsk, Brest Region, BelTA reported.
"We have never been the initiators of any opposition. By no means. We don't need that. What is war? This is a disaster," Lukashenko said. "Don't worry, we have no intention of going to war with the Ukrainians. And they don't want to go to war with us. We will do everything for peaceful coexistence with Ukraine. If, of course, they want it too. If the people want it," he said.
Answering questions from local residents, the Belarusian president emphasized that he was forced to pay special attention to the situation along the border with Ukraine in order not to allow an unexpected blow, as happened to the Soviet Union at the beginning of World War II.

"We should not repeat our mistakes. We have to be ready. We are doing everything we need to do," Lukashenko said and added: "We must understand that we are a frontline country, and a war is being waged very close by, behind the fence. My main task is to prevent them from dragging Belarus into this war."
