Lukashenko: If Poland attacks Ukraine, we will come to the aid of Ukrainians - 1

If Poland enters Ukraine and tries to tear off its western part, Belarus will support the Ukrainians. This was stated today by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko at a meeting with the residents of the Belarusian city of Parokhonsk, Brest region, BelTA agency reported.

Lukashenko drew attention to the fact that Poland also has its own interests in Ukraine, and the attitude of the Polish political elite is determined by this. The main stumbling block, in his words, is the so-called Volhynia massacre - the mass destruction by the Ukrainian Insurgent Army of the Polish population during the Second World War.

"What was happening during the years of the war [...] the Ukrainians burned our Khatin region. What they did in Pripyat, led by the fascists, is nightmarish," Lukashenko said.

The Belarusian president noted that at the center of Poland's claims is its desire to break off Western Ukraine.

Warsaw categorically denies claiming these lands.

"Both Western Belarus and Western Ukraine. And to rule there. This is unacceptable to us. If the Poles enter Ukraine and try to take something away, we will support the Ukrainians. Because we understand that we will be next," Lukashenko summarized.
