French counter-terrorism prosecutors announced that an Afghan national was being investigated on terrorism charges on suspicion of plotting an attack, the Associated Press reported, citing BTA.
The 22-year-old suspect is among three people authorities said earlier this week were in custody in the Toulouse area. The other two were subsequently released from custody.
Authorities said an investigation that began on Sept. 27 uncovered an alleged "plan to carry out violent acts against people at a football stadium or shopping center," allegedly linked to the Afghan suspect.

Investigators said they found evidence that linked the person to “radicalization” and “following the ideology of the “Islamic State”.
AFP later reported that one of the Afghans detained on suspicion of violent intent was linked to another Afghan detained in the US on suspicion of planning to carry out an attack on the day of the presidential election.

A 27-year-old Afghan man living in Oklahoma was detained on Wednesday on suspicion of planning an election day attack on behalf of the Islamic State, the agency recalled.
