Two strong earthquakes rocked the Balkan Peninsula on October 13 early in the morning, NIGGG reports to BAS.

At 3:14 a.m., an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.8 on the Richter scale was recorded in Turkey with an epicenter near the city of Afionkarahisar.

Two and a half hours later, at 5:48 a.m. Bulgarian time, there was an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.0 on the Richter scale according to NIGGG data and 3.7 according to European Seismological Center data in the Serbian city of Vrania.

According to data from the European Seismological Center, the earthquake in Turkey had a magnitude of 4.4 on the Richter scale, and the one in Serbia - 3.7.

The tremor in Serbia was felt in Blagoevgrad and Sofia, with people admitting that they felt shaking for "a few seconds".

The depth of the earthquake near Vranje is 15 km.

"I felt shaking for 2-3 seconds", reports our compatriot from Blagoevgrad on the website of the European Seismological Center.

Two more, this time from Sofia, indicate that they also felt the shaking.
