Kazakhstan refused to submit an application to join BRICS – a group of countries that Vladimir Putin defined as the antithesis of the global dominant role of the United States.
Kazakhstan will not apply to BRICS yet, as President Kassam-Jomart Tokayev prefers the UN as a “universal organization”, his press secretary said, Tengrinews agency reported.
„Kazakhstan is watching with interest the development of BRICS and supports the calls of the leaders of the founding countries of the organization to make every effort to build a fair, democratic world order free from the hegemony of any superpowers,” announced from Astana.
Kazakhstan has received an invitation, but to date has refused to join BRICS. “These proposals are carefully considered by the head of state and, at his direction, are analyzed by the relevant departments from the point of view of Kazakhstan's national interests,” Tokayev's office said.
