The American billionaire Elon Musk, founder of the Tesla and SpaceX companies, has donated 75 million dollars in three months to the political organization America Pac, which supports the presidential candidacy of Donald Trump. This is clear from the data published by the US Federal Election Commission.

The majority of the funds - 72 million - were transferred from July to September, and in those three months Musk was the only donor to America Pac. "Washington Post" calls the organization "a political action committee created by Musk to campaign in support of Trump".

"America Pac has become an important player in Trump's fight for a second term, conducting perhaps the most ambitious independent campaign to attract voters for the Republican presidential candidate in the final weeks of the campaign," notes the "Washington Post". In turn, agency "Reuters" clarifies that this organization concentrates its efforts on voter mobilization in the so-called wavering states. Judging by the data in the report, America Pac has spent more money supporting Trump than any other group with similar goals.

Why Musk is supporting Trump

Musk, who, in his own words, previously voted for the Democratic Party, announced in July that he would support Donald Trump in this election. In his X platform since then, the billionaire has repeatedly stated that he approves of Trump's policy to protect the US borders from illegal immigrants, his measures to strengthen the country's homeland security, as well as his position on freedom of speech.

On October 16th, Musk announced that he intends to hold a "series of shares" in Pennsylvania from the evening of that day until the 21st of October. Pennsylvania is a state seen as important from a voting point of view by both Trump and his Democratic rival Kamala Harris.

After the attack on Trump at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania in mid-July, Musk said he "fully supports him". At the same time, the entrepreneur has repeatedly criticized Kamala Harris, saying, for example, that if she wins, this election will be the last for the United States, while Trump "not only does not pose a threat to democracy, but is also the last chance to save it".

As for Trump, in an interview with the "Reuters" on August 20, he said that if re-elected as president, he would give Musk the position of minister or adviser. "He's a very smart guy, he stands out, and I would naturally appoint him if he agreed," Trump said.

Current American President Joe Biden, for his part, wrote the following in mid-July on Facebook: "I am sick to death...of Elon Musk and his rich friends trying to buy the election.
