The American television CNN has confirmed that Donald Trump is the new president of the United States.

Trump will be America's 47th president after making the most significant comeback in political history, giving him enormous, destructive power at home and sending shockwaves around the world.
Four years after he left Washington as a pariah following his attempt to override the 2020 election to stay in office, Trump's victory comes after two assassination attempts, impeachment proceedings, a criminal conviction and numerous other criminal charges.< /p>

Trump wins at least 276 electoral votes (out of the required 270), and Kamala Harris 223. Republicans also win convincingly in Congress. This is a very heavy defeat for Harris and her Democratic Party.

During his election campaign, Trump promised “retribution“ and spoke openly about using America's governing institutions and even the military to punish his enemies. He has promised to begin mass deportations of undocumented migrants and even some legal migrants, which could spark a clash with the courts.

Trump promised to create the greatest economy in the world. Trump's supporters see him as a unique figure whose blunt, sometimes vulgar and often suggestively racist rhetoric exposes him as a scourge of political correctness.
Across the ocean, US allies are bracing for a return to the wild unpredictability in US foreign policy that Trump unleashed in his first term. There are also concerns about his willingness to apply NATO's core principle of mutual defense if necessary.

Today's emphatic victory undoubtedly makes Trump one of the most significant political figures in the history of the United States. After defeating Hillary Clinton in 2016, Trump is now defeating another woman – Kamala Harris. The US again opposed the idea of a woman president, which would have set a precedent.

Trump has vowed to immediately begin the largest deportation operation in history. The president-elect has also promised a fundamental overhaul of the US economic system and plans to impose sweeping tariffs on foreign imports.

Trump's victory is well received by Israel, but not so positively by Ukraine. The Republican promised to end the war in Ukraine “within 24 hours” but did not say how he intended to do that.
