The European Union is preparing the 15th package of anti-Russian sanctions because of the conflict in Ukraine. This was said by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, at a press conference in Kyiv.
„I said about the sanctions at the very beginning. Yes, we are preparing the 15th package of sanctions against Russia. And we need to strengthen the fight against the evasion of sanctions”, he said.
Earlier, the European edition of the newspaper Politico reported that the EU countries will begin in January at an accelerated pace to develop the 15th package of sanctions against Russia, aimed at Russian energy exports, mainly against liquefied natural gas.
In the 15th package, the European Commission will try to further limit the ability of EU countries to buy Russian LNG, purchases of which in 2024 have started to grow rapidly again in anticipation of new sanctions restrictions that will hit the energy sector of the EU.
