Russia launches 120 missiles at Ukraine - 1

Russia has launched around 120 missiles and 90 drones in a "massive" combined air strike against Ukraine's energy infrastructure, President Volodymyr Zelensky said, quoted by Reuters, BTA reported.

"The enemy's target was our energy infrastructure throughout Ukraine. "Unfortunately, there is damage to the objects from the impacts and falling debris," he wrote in a statement on social media.

The Russian airstrike in Ukraine in the early hours of today caused "serious damage" of the equipment of the thermal power plants of the largest private energy supplier in Ukraine DTEK, the company announced, quoted by the agencies. DTEK's post on social networks adds that the company's teams are working to repair the damaged equipment, but does not specify what exactly was hit.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibyga wrote on the social network "X" that last night's massive strikes by Russia were the response of Russian President Vladimir Putin to all those who call and visit him, reported Ukrinform and France Press.

"Russia has launched one of its largest ever airstrikes - drones and missiles against peaceful cities, sleeping civilians and critical infrastructure. This is the real answer of the war criminal Putin to all those who called and visited him recently. We need peace through strength, not a policy of concessions," Sibiga stressed.

Earlier today, the Russian army fired cruise missiles "Calibre" from the Black Sea. Strategic bombers also fired cruise missiles, accompanied by swarms of "Shaheed" kamikaze drones, Ukfinform noted. Energy Minister German Galushchenko announced that Russia attacked electricity transmission and production facilities.

On November 15, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz had his first telephone conversation with Putin in almost two years. This caused a sharp reaction from the Ukrainian side, including from President Volodymyr Zelensky. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kyiv indicated that any talks with Putin only give the Russian president hope of getting out of international isolation, Ukrinform notes.
