I believe that the wind of change in Syria will be beneficial for the Syrian people, said Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, quoted by Reuters, writes BTA.
Turkey welcomes the clearing of terrorists in Syria's Tell Rifat and Manbij areas, he added after a cabinet meeting.
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his regime have rejected Turkey's calls for dialogue, Erdogan said. He added that Assad had fled and left Syria in ruins.
"The people of Syria are our brothers and sisters with all its parts and religions,", noted the Turkish president, adding that Turkey has been a safe haven for Syrians fleeing the war.
"I believe that the wind of change in Syria will be beneficial for the Syrian people and that safe and voluntary returns to the country will increase once stability is achieved," Erdogan also said.
He announced that Ankara is opening the Yayladağ border crossing on the Turkish-Syrian border so that the millions of Syrian refugees Turkey has hosted can return to their homeland.
"The dark period in Syria is over, a period of light is beginning,", Erdogan pointed out.
Ankara has no interest in the territory of any other country, he pointed out, adding that the sole purpose of the cross-border operations was for Turkey to defend itself against terrorism.
The Turkish leader emphasized that the country will not allow new terrorist elements to appear near its borders.
"Syrians will decide the future of their country. What Turkey should do is support the efforts of the Syrians to rebuild their country," the Turkish head of state also said.
"Turkey is ready to do everything it can for stability in Syria, we will overcome difficulties together,", Erdogan stressed.
