The Russian Defense Ministry announced this morning that air defense downed 42 Ukrainian drones over five regions of the country overnight, Reuters reported.
20 drones were shot down over the Oryol region, eight each in the Rostov and Bryansk regions, five in Kursk and one over the Krasnodar region, the ministry said in a post on the social network “Telegram“.
One of the strikes caused a fire at a fuel infrastructure facility in the village of Stalnoy Kon, Oryol Region Governor Andrey Klychkov said.
“Fortunately, thanks to the quick response, the consequences of the attack were avoided – the fire was contained in time and is now completely extinguished. "There were no casualties or significant damage," he said.
For the second week in a row, fuel facilities in the Oryol region have been hit.
The leaders of the Bryansk and Rostov regions said there were no casualties or damage in the latest drone strikes.
Reuters notes that it has not been able to independently verify the claims.
