Germany is urging its citizens living abroad to register quickly for the upcoming parliamentary elections on February 23, DPA reported, BTA reported.
Applications for registration can now be submitted to the relevant German representations. Germans living abroad fall into the category of citizens who are not registered in Germany.
Yesterday, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier dissolved parliament and scheduled elections for February 23. The elections will be early, as they will be held seven months before the originally planned date.
The decision to call early elections was made after the collapse of Chancellor Olaf Scholz's three-party coalition in November and after the loss of a vote of confidence on December 16.
