The world population in 2024 increased by almost 82 million people compared to a year earlier. These data were provided by the German World Population Foundation (Deutsche Stiftung Weltbev lkerung, DSW).
According to the organization, as of January 1, 2025, there will be 8.156 billion people living in the world. At the same time, the population of Germany remains at the same level during the year and is about 84 million.
First of all, population growth is observed in Africa. Over the next two decades, the number of people living on this continent may double, say experts from DSW.
According to the UN, in 2037 world population could exceed 9 billion for the first time.
