Ukrainian air defenses shot down 50 of 72 drones launched by Russia last night and the armed forces attacked one of Russia's largest oil refineries, Reuters reported, citing the Ukrainian military.

Military and civilian authorities have not yet reported any casualties or damage.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russia had used 1,250 aerial bombs, more than 750 attack drones and more than 20 missiles in attacks on Ukraine in the past week.

„Only determination can stop such terrorists. "We are constantly working with our partners to strengthen our defense capabilities and limit Russia's ability to terrorize Ukraine," Zelensky wrote in a post on Telegram.

“Long-range strike capabilities are critically important. Sanctions are vital. Lowering the price of oil is important. "It is crucial to act unitedly and protect lives with determination," he added.

The General Staff in Kiev said on Monday that its forces had again attacked a Russian oil refinery in the city of Ryazan last night, reporting explosions and a fire in the area.

"The Ryazan oil refinery is one of the four largest refineries in the Russian Federation," a statement on Telegram said.

The Russian Defense Ministry said air defense systems had destroyed 15 Ukrainian drones over Russia and two naval drones in the Black Sea.

The ministry said eight drones were shot down over the Ryazan region, six drones were destroyed in the Kursk region and one drone was hit over the Belgorod region.

The governor of the Ryazan region Pavel Malkov said today that there were no casualties as a result of the latest drone attacks, but authorities are still assessing the damage.
