The President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, posted a message on his Instagram account, in which he stated that "surrender is not an option for Serbia", quoted by Focus.
"Surrender is never and will never be an option for Serbia. We will fight and win," Vucic stressed.
The Serbian President announced that he will address the nation tonight at 8:00 p.m. Serbian time (19:00 Bulgarian time).
The statement comes after an extraordinary meeting of the Serbian government, scheduled after the resignation of Prime Minister Miloš Vučević.
Since November last year, students in Serbia have been organizing protests and blockades in Belgrade and other cities following the tragic incident at the Novi Sad train station, in which a concrete canopy fell and killed 15 people. The students are demanding the public presentation of all documents related to the tragedy and an objective investigation into the incident. Serbian authorities have already detained 13 people, including a former minister.
