Ukraine's air defenses shot down 114 of the 214 drones launched by Russia during an attack last night, Reuters and Ukrinform reported, citing a message from the Ukrainian Air Force on "Telegram". The Ukrainian Air Force press service added that another 81 drones were lost and redirected after electronic warfare equipment was used against them.
After last night's massive air attack, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called on his country's allies on social networks to exert "joint pressure on Russia, accompanied by tougher sanctions and stronger defense support" of Ukraine, to put an end to this aggression.
The drones were launched from the Russian Kursk region, Bryansk region, Primorsky-Akhatsky district, Millerovo in the Rostov region and the Chauda area on the Crimean peninsula. The attack affected the Ukrainian Odessa, Khmelnytsky, Sumy and Kyiv regions.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the attack was repelled with the help of aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units and mobile fire groups of the Air Force and the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Overnight, 75 Russian drones were shot down, and 63 imitation drones failed to reach their targets after electronic warfare equipment was used against them, Ukrinform recalls.
