US President Donald Trump said today that he did not know whether Russian President Vladimir Putin would appear at the talks to end the war in Ukraine, scheduled for tomorrow in the Turkish metropolis of Istanbul, Reuters reported, BTA reported.
"Like me, he could be there, that's a possibility... I don't know if he would be there if I'm not there. We'll find out," Trump told media representatives aboard the presidential plane "Air Force One" en route from Saudi Arabia to Qatar.
He had said that he might go to Turkey as part of his Middle East tour this week, Reuters recalls.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said today that a Russian delegation would leave for Istanbul, but did not specify its composition.
Kiev announced yesterday that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky would meet in Turkey only with Putin and with no one else from the Russian side.
