It is important for Russia who exactly from Kiev will sign the documents if the delegations of the Russian Federation and Ukraine reach an agreement. This was stated at a briefing by the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov.
“When we sign documents that the delegations have to sign, the most important and fundamental thing for us is who exactly will sign these documents from the Ukrainian side“, said the Kremlin representative.
On May 16, negotiations were held between Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul. After the meeting, Moscow and Kiev agreed to exchange prisoners according to the formula “1000 for 1000“, to present in detail their vision for a possible future ceasefire and to continue the negotiation process. The head of the Russian delegation, presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky, said the Russian side was satisfied with the outcome of the meeting. He also reported that Ukraine had requested direct talks between the leaders of the countries, and Russia had taken "this request into account."
