Ukraine's presence on the first day of the G7 finance ministers' meeting in Canada is a "strong message" to the rest of the world, said Canadian Finance Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne, standing next to his Ukrainian counterpart, Agence France-Presse reported, BTA reported.
The presence of Minister Serhiy Marchenko is a very strong message of the unity of the G7 in support of Ukraine, Champagne said at the press conference at the opening of the event.
Champagne pledged Canada's support for Ukraine in its fight against Russian invasion to continue. He also said Ottawa was considering helping Ukraine build a Canadian-style pension system.
Marchenko told reporters he would reiterate Ukraine's case for toughening sanctions against Russia, including through the G-7's move to lower the $60-a-barrel ceiling on Russian crude oil exports.
