Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called for global action after the deadly Russian strike with 300 combat drones and about 70 missiles of various types, including ballistic missiles, on the night of Sunday, May 25, Ukrinform reported, BTA reported.

"Today, rescuers are working in more than 30 Ukrainian cities and villages after Russia's massive strike. Where necessary, the work continues - our emergency services are on the ground, providing assistance and supporting people. Thank you," Zelensky wrote on the "Facebook" platform.

According to him, during the night, Russian forces launched nearly 300 combat drones, most of which were "Shahed", as well as nearly 70 missiles of various types, including ballistic.

"These were targeted strikes on ordinary cities. Ordinary residential buildings were destroyed and damaged. In Kiev, the dormitories of the history faculty of the university were hit. There were also strikes on enterprises. It is tragic that people died, including children. I express my condolences," the Ukrainian president said.

Zelensky said that the targets included Kyiv and the region, as well as Zhytomyr, Khmelnytsky, Ternopil, Chernihiv, Sumy, Odessa, Poltava, Dnipro, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv and Cherkasy regions.

"Any such terrorist Russian attack is sufficient reason for new sanctions against Russia. Russia is dragging out this war and continues to kill every day. The world may be on vacation over the weekend, but the war continues, regardless of holidays and working days," he stressed.

The Ukrainian president stressed that this cannot be ignored, adding: "America's silence, the silence of others in the world only encourages Putin."

"Without really strong pressure on the Russian leadership, this brutality cannot be stopped. Sanctions will certainly help. Determination matters now - the determination of the United States, European countries and all those around the world who strive for peace. The world knows all the weaknesses of the Russian economy," he pointed out.

Zelensky said that in his opinion, the only way to stop the war is to exert the necessary pressure on Russia. "Putin must be forced to think not about launching missiles, but about ending the war," the Ukrainian president concluded.
