US President Donald Trump does not see a chance for an immediate resolution to the war in Ukraine after his latest phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin, world agencies reported, quoted by BTA.
"It was a good call, but not a call that will lead to immediate peace," Trump wrote on his social network "Truth Social".
The American president said that the call, which lasted approximately an hour and 15 minutes, was dedicated to Ukraine's attack on Russian military aircraft, as well as various attacks carried out by both sides.
Trump stressed that Putin told him that Russia would have to respond to the attacks on Russian airports.
The two leaders also discussed Iran's nuclear program. "President Putin to participate in the discussions with Iran and said that it might be useful for a quick resolution of this issue".
For his part, Putin stated during his phone call with the US president that the Russian-Ukrainian talks in Istanbul were useful, said Putin's foreign policy adviser Yuri Ushakov.
"The Russian side did not succumb to the provocations (of Kiev) and the second round, as we know, took place in Istanbul," the Russian diplomat said. "Our president discussed in detail the content of the negotiations and their results and emphasized that, overall, these negotiations were useful," Ushakov added.
The second round of resumed direct talks between Russia and Ukraine took place in Istanbul on Monday. The meeting lasted a little over an hour, and the parties presented their views on aspects of resolving the conflict.
