J.D. Vance Takes Expected Side in Scandal of the Year: I'm Proud to Stand by Trump - 1

Vice President J.D. Vance has broken his silence amid the escalating conflict between President Donald Trump and his former ally and key donor Elon Musk, Time reported.

"President Trump has done more than any person in my lifetime to earn the trust of the movement he leads," Vance said on X (formerly Twitter) late Thursday night.

Reaffirming his position and support for Trump, he added: "I'm proud to stand by him."

Vance's public statement comes after Musk, who recently left his post as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), indirectly implicated the vice president in the scandal.

On Thursday, Musk responded with a "yes", supporting a social media post that said "Trump should be impeached" and that Vance "should replace him" at the White House.

Musk also tagged a post with an X from Vance, sharing a laughing emoji in response to the vice president's comment that it had been a "slow news day". Revealing that he sat down for an interview with popular podcaster Theo Vaughn, Vance joked: "What are we even going to talk about?"

The feud between Trump and Musk flared after Musk expressed his displeasure with Trump's "Big, Beautiful Bill", which is being considered by the Senate. The Tesla CEO called the bill "a disgusting abomination" and posted a series of messages on his social media platform targeting the legislation. He stepped up his efforts to thwart the bill's progress, telling his millions of followers to "call your senator, call your congressman... to take down the bill."

Trump responded by telling reporters in the Oval Office that he was "disappointed" with Musk. The argument then escalated and became personal, with the two exchanging insults via posts shared on their respective social media platforms.

"Without me, Trump would have lost the election," Musk said. "Such ingratitude."

In another post, Musk claimed that Trump was named in the Epstein files and that's why they weren't released in their entirety. He provided no evidence for this.

Meanwhile, Trump said via Truth Social: "Elon was 'exhausting'." I asked him to leave. I took away the electric car mandate that forced everyone to buy electric cars that no one else wanted (which he knew for months I was going to do!), and he just went CRAZY!"
