Russia is still ready to exchange the bodies of Ukrainian soldiers killed in the war and is in contact with Kiev on the issue, the Kremlin said today, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
They added that some of the bodies were still waiting in refrigerated trucks for transfer.
Earlier, Russia said that vehicles initially carrying more than 1,000 bodies had been parked near the exchange point since Saturday to be collected from Ukraine. Moscow officials complained that Kiev had not yet done so. The exchange in question was agreed during the second round of direct peace talks in Istanbul earlier this month.
The Kremlin said it did not yet know exactly how many bodies of Russian soldiers Ukraine was prepared to hand over.
Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to hold a meeting of the National Security Council today, which will focus on the country's traditional values policy.
