In a conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, US President Donald Trump said that the United States will not hinder the Jewish state in its attack on Iran, but will not provide assistance in offensive operations against the Islamic State, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing sources.
According to their information, during a conversation with Trump on June 12, Netanyahu noted that the 60-day deadline for concluding a nuclear deal with Iran has expired and Israel must defend itself.
Earlier, Trump said that he had warned the Iranian authorities of the consequences if they did not agree on a deal on nuclear program, and urged them to conclude it nevertheless.
On the night of June 13, Israel launched Operation Rising Lion, aimed at Iran's nuclear program. The Israel Defense Forces reported that 200 fighters attacked more than 100 targets in Iran, including nuclear facilities. On the evening of June 13, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps reported that Iran had responded with missile attacks on dozens of targets in Israel, including military facilities and air bases, including the Defense Ministry building in Tel Aviv. The Jewish state's authorities acknowledged the destruction of a number of targets, but assured that most of the missiles were intercepted.
