Iran has urged residents of the Israeli city of Haifa to evacuate, Iranian state television reported, quoted by Agence France-Presse, BTA reported.
"A few minutes ago, an evacuation warning was issued to Zionist settlers in Haifa to protect them from Iranian missiles", Iranian television said, broadcasting a sign in Hebrew with the following message: "Please leave the designated area immediately. In the coming hours, the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran will operate in this area".
The Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Abdolrahim Mousavi, yesterday called on residents of Haifa and Tel Aviv to evacuate in view of upcoming "punitive" operations.
The Israeli army said tonight that it had detected new rocket launches from Iran towards Israel, Agence France-Presse reported. The Israeli armed forces urged people in central Israel to take shelter in bomb shelters.
"Defense systems have been activated to intercept the threat," the Israeli forces said in a statement, BTA reported.
The Israeli army clarified that the warning applies to the Israeli population south of Tel Aviv to the city of Hadera, which is located on the Mediterranean coast. A TASS correspondent reported that sirens were also activated in the Tel Aviv area.
