Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in a phone conversation with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz that the conflict between Israel and Iran poses an immediate threat to regional security and warned that continued escalation could lead to further consequences, BTA reported.
The Turkish president stressed in the conversation that resolving nuclear disputes with Iran must be done through diplomacy and called for an immediate return to negotiations, the Turkish Presidency's Communications Directorate reported on its website.
According to Erdogan, the conflict, which began with Israel's attack on Iran, has raised the threat to regional security to the highest level, and "the consequences of this spiral of violence caused by the Israeli attacks could harm the region and Europe in terms of migration and the possibility of a nuclear leak".
Turkey is actively working to de-escalate tensions and restore stability in the region, and these efforts will continue, Erdogan said.
Bilateral relations and other regional issues were also discussed during the conversation between the Turkish president and the German chancellor.
