A 60-year-old Bulgarian citizen was pulled dead from the sea over the weekend near the Asprovalta resort east of Thessaloniki, local news portal “Voriya“ reports, BTA reported.
Our compatriot lost consciousness while swimming in the sea. An alarm was immediately raised. According to authorities, three boats immediately headed to the scene, and other tourists dived in to pull him out, but failed.
Ultimately, the man's body was pulled from the water by one of the private boats that came to his aid. The Bulgarian was taken by ambulance to a Thessaloniki hospital, where an autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of his death.
Two tourists participated in the rescue operation, one of whom felt unwell and was taken to a health center for first aid.
