Belarus to deploy Russian Oreshnik missile system by end of year - 1

The Russian-made Oreshnik missile system will be deployed in Belarus by the end of 2025. This was announced by the country's President Alexander Lukashenko during the official ceremony on the occasion of Independence Day, BelTA news agency reported, BTA reports.

“In Volgograd, we agreed with our 'big brother' Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin that the first positions of the Oreshnik will be in Belarus. You have already seen how this system works. It will be deployed here by the end of the year,“ Lukashenko said.

According to the State Secretary of the Security Council, Alexander Volfovich, technical preparations are currently underway and suitable locations for the deployment of the systems are being determined. However, he refused to specify how many of the missile systems would be delivered.

Russia first used the “Oreshnik“ on November 21, 2024, in a strike on the Ukrainian city of Dnipro. At the time, President Vladimir Putin explained that this was a response to Ukraine's first use of American ATACMS ballistic missiles and British Storm Shadow, with the permission of Western allies, to strike Russian territory.
