A child with German citizenship died after falling from a water slide in an aqua park on the Croatian island of Rab, local police announced today, quoted by the Croatian national television HRT, BTA reported.
The incident occurred yesterday. Police said that after the fall, the child was transported by helicopter from Rab to a hospital in the city of Rijeka, but unfortunately died from her injuries.
The police added that they are working with all other competent services and institutions to establish the circumstances and facts related to the child's death.
Firefighters also joined the rescue operation on the island of Rab, who used three vehicles to provide a landing site for the helicopter.
The tragedy occurred after the three-year-old girl, who was sliding down the slide, slipped from her father's arms and fell from a great height onto a concrete surface, the Croatian news site "Index" added.
