The new strategic nuclear submarine "Knyaz Pozharsky" of the "Borey-A" project has arrived at its permanent base in the Northern Fleet. This was reported by the press service of the Russian Navy on Saturday, quoted by TASS.
The announcement comes hours after US President Donald Trump announced that he had sent two American nuclear submarines off the coast of Russia.
According to the announcement, "Knyaz Pozharsky" has arrived at the main base of the Northern Fleet's submarine forces - Gadzhievo.
"The submarine cruiser "Knyaz Pozharsky" arrived and joined the 31st Red Banner Division of the Order of Nakhimov, which is the basis of the naval strategic nuclear forces of the Navy, "said the commander of the submarine forces of the Northern Fleet, Vice Admiral Anatoly Kovalenko.
According to the report of the cruiser commander, the tasks of the inter-base transition were fully fulfilled by the crew, the material part of the ship is in good condition, the personnel are ready to perform the assigned tasks, the Northern Fleet reports.
It was officially announced that "Knyaz Pozharsky" is equipped with the most effective radio-electronic equipment and strike weapons, including "Bulava" ballistic missiles, as well as modern torpedo complexes and means of hydroacoustic countermeasures. Thanks to the use of cutting-edge design solutions, the ship uses modern power plants and navigation instruments, and the conditions for the crew's service and rest have been significantly improved.
On July 24, at the Sevmash enterprise in Severodvinsk, Russian President Vladimir Putin took part in the ceremony of raising the naval flag of the nuclear submarine cruiser Knyaz Pozharsky.
The series of fourth-generation nuclear submarine cruisers of the Borei and Borei-A projects, armed with Bulava intercontinental ballistic missiles, will become the basis of the naval strategic nuclear forces for the coming decades, the Russian military said.
