Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has called for caution and described the situation as "uncertain" after the summit between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin in Alaska, Agence France-Presse reported, BTA reported.

"In my eyes, we are in a situation that is at least as uncertain as it was before", Frederiksen said in an interview with Danish state television.

"There was no truce and no agreement. On the contrary - the Russians bombed all night, and for me this is clear proof that Russia does not want peace," she stressed. Her statements coincide with the position of French President Emmanuel Macron, who also called for vigilance and to maintain "pressure" on Russia, AFP notes.

For the Danish prime minister, whose country has taken over the rotating six-month presidency of the Council of the EU until the end of 2025, it is crucial that Ukraine continues to receive support and that Europe rearms. "When I woke up this morning, my first thought was that we need to accelerate the rearmament process even further", Frederiksen stressed.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said on Monday that he welcomed U.S. President Donald Trump's efforts to end the war in Ukraine and achieve lasting peace following a summit in Alaska between Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin, Reuters reported.

"Ukraine can count on our unwavering solidarity as we work for a peace that protects Ukraine's and Europe's vital security interests," the German chancellor wrote in "Ex", where he repeated parts of a joint declaration issued earlier today by European leaders, including Merz.
