Russia has handed over to the Ukrainian side the bodies of another 1,000 dead servicemen, and Ukraine, in turn, has handed over 19 bodies to the Russian side, TASS reported, citing its source, BTA reports.
"1,000 bodies have been handed over to Ukraine, and 19 to Russia", he said.
On June 19, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia has handed over to Ukraine the bodies of 6,000 of its dead servicemen and is ready to hand over about 3,000 more.
Kiev also reported that Russia has returned the bodies of 1,000 dead Ukrainian soldiers. Most of them died on the front, but some died in captivity, reported Agence France-Presse, noting that these exchanges are one of the few results of negotiations between the two sides.
"As a result of repatriation measures, the bodies of 1,000 dead were returned to Ukraine" from the Russian side, which it said were Ukrainian soldiers, the Ukrainian center responsible for prisoner-of-war issues announced.
