French President Emmanuel Macron has warned of "permanent war" amid Israel's planned military operation in Gaza City, DPA reports.
"The military offensive in Gaza that Israel is preparing can only lead to disaster for both peoples and risks plunging the entire region into a cycle of permanent war," Macron wrote in X after talks with Jordanian King Abdullah II and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
Macron reiterated his call for a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
He also insisted on the release of all hostages, the provision of large-scale humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza, as well as the disarmament of the Palestinian militant organization Hamas and the strengthening of the Palestinian Authority as prerequisites for ending the war.
We recall that Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz approved a plan to deploy military forces to capture the city Gaza.
Israel will call up about 60,000 reservists from Wednesday as part of preparations for an offensive against Hamas in Gaza City.
The authorization came despite the Palestinian group Hamas saying it had presented a "positive response" to a new Gaza ceasefire proposal by international mediators.
Macron has stepped up his criticism of Israel in recent months over its conduct in Gaza. He has also pledged to recognize a Palestinian state, a move sharply criticized by the government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
