The Russians did a lot of things we don't like. A lot of civilians died. This was stated in an interview with NBC by US Vice President JD Vance.
He admitted that Russia's war against Ukraine cannot be ended “overnight“, as Donald Trump had promised in his election campaign.
“There are highs and lows in the negotiations. Sometimes we feel like we have made great progress with the Russians, and sometimes, as the president said, he is very disappointed with the Russians. We will continue to do what is necessary to bring this thing to an end. I don't think it will happen overnight. I think we will continue to make progress. But ultimately, whether the killings will stop depends on whether the Russians and Ukrainians can actually meet in the middle,“ said J.D. Vance.
While Vladimir Putin has not agreed to a ceasefire, J.D. Vance said the Russians have agreed to major concessions during talks with Donald Trump.
“The Russians have given in by acknowledging that Ukraine will have territorial integrity after the war. They have realized that they cannot install a puppet regime in Kiev,“ said the US vice president.
J.D. Vance remains confident that the United States can mediate an end to the war between Russia and Ukraine. He praised Trump for his efforts to end the war and accused former President Joe Biden of doing the opposite. "It's the vigorous diplomacy that will bring this war to an end," he said, commenting on Trump's efforts to end the war diplomatically.
J.D. Vance also said there would be no American troops on the ground in Ukraine, but the United States would do everything it could to ensure the country's security after the war ends. He did not specify how.
