The web service Flightradar denied reports of a failure in the GPS system of the plane flying to Bulgaria with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on board.

“The flight with Ursula von der Leyen on board transmitted a good quality signal from takeoff to landing“, the service reported in X.

Flightradar also commented on reports that the plane spent about an hour in the air before landing, stating that the flight lasted 1 hour and 57 minutes against an initial schedule of 1 hour and 48 minutes.

Earlier, the British newspaper Financial Times reported a failure in the navigation system when the plane with the head of the EC landed in Bulgaria. According to the publication, the pilots had to use paper maps to land at Plovdiv airport.

Russian President Dmitry Peskov's press secretary denied Russia's involvement in the plane's GPS malfunction in a comment to the Financial Times.

According to European Commission representative Ariana Podesta, Bulgarian authorities have called the incident "interference by the Russian Federation", but she answered negatively when asked whether Bulgaria had provided evidence.
